About the Role
KNOWIDEA is building the operating system for executive decision-making — an agentic business intelligence platform that transforms raw enterprise data into real-time, predictive, decision-ready insight. Backed by a $15M valuation within two months of launch, research partnerships with Georgia Tech, and $500K+ ARR across two continents, KNOWIDEA is scaling fast.
We are looking for a Founding Engineer who will be the technical backbone of our product — someone who can architect scalable infrastructure, build production-grade multi-agent systems powered by LLMs, and ship features end-to-end from database to interface.
You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with our CEO (ex-TD, Manulife, Mercer) and CTO (ex-AWS Applied Scientist, neurosymbolic AI researcher) to define the technical trajectory of the company.
Note: This is not a plug-and-play engineering role. You will own problems from zero to production in a high-velocity, high-ambiguity environment where your decisions directly shape the product, the architecture, and the business.
Responsibilities
Scalable Infrastructure & Platform
- Design, build, and maintain production infrastructure that supports real-time data ingestion, agentic processing pipelines, and low-latency API endpoints at enterprise scale.
- Own the cloud architecture and make foundational decisions around reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency as the platform scales from early traction to thousands of concurrent enterprise users.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring to ensure high availability and rapid, safe deployments.
Agent & LLM Systems
- Architect and ship multi-agent systems that orchestrate LLM calls, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and tool-use workflows to deliver verifiable, context-aware business intelligence.
- Design robust hallucination-reduction strategies, implement grounded generation techniques, and build evaluation frameworks that keep AI outputs factual and auditable.
- Continuously research and integrate state-of-the-art LLM capabilities (function calling, structured outputs, long-context reasoning) to extend the product’s intelligence layer.
- Develop and optimize retrieval systems (vector search, hybrid retrieval, embedding pipelines) that connect LLM agents to enterprise data with high recall and precision.
Full-Stack Product Development
- Ship features end-to-end across the React frontend, backend services, and database layer — from concept through deployment — with high craft and speed.
- Translate rapid client feedback into shipped improvements, balancing product stickiness with technical integrity.
- Collaborate directly with the founding team on product strategy, roadmap prioritization, and technical trade-offs.
Required Skills
Required
- Strong full-stack engineering skills: React, Node.js / Python, relational databases.
- Hands-on experience building AI agents, multi-agent orchestration, or LLM-powered product features in production.
- Deep familiarity with modern LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models), prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Proven ability to design systems for scale — async processing, queue-based architectures, caching strategies, and horizontal scaling patterns.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: version control, code review, testing, and CI/CD.
- High ownership mentality — you see broken things and fix them without waiting to be asked.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the pace of an early-stage, high-growth startup.
Preferred
- Experience with Supabase, PostgreSQL, or equivalent managed database platforms.
- Background in neurosymbolic AI, knowledge graphs, or structured reasoning systems.
- Familiarity with enterprise BI or analytics tooling (Tableau, Looker, Power BI) and an understanding of the problems they leave unsolved.
- Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or published research in related areas.
Transportation & Housing
KNOWIDEA is a fully remote company. There is no requirement to relocate or commute to a physical office. You are free to work from wherever you are most productive.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is open to negotiation and will be competitive with top-tier startups. As a founding engineer at a company that hit $500K ARR in its first two months with a $15M valuation, you're joining at the ground floor — with the upside that comes with it.
